Delta’s Defense Prepares To Stand Strong In State Championship Game


DELTA, Colo. –

The Delta Panthers have relied on it’s Defense all season long. Saturday’s state championship game will be no different. (After all, defense wins championships) The Panthers have one of the strongest defensive units in 2A. The Panthers weren’t scored on until week 5 of the regular season, and only gave up 57 points during the 2019 season.

During the Panther’s three game playoff run, the D has played well. Shutting out Pagosa Springs in the first round and only gave up 6 points in the semifinals against Basalt. The only game the Panther’s defense struggled, was the quarterfinals game against Faith Christian. (A 37-35 offensive back-and-forth affair) The Defense still made a huge 4-and-out stand at the end of the game, to preserve Delta’s two-point lead.

The Panthers take on Sterling in Pueblo, Saturday kickoff is at 1pm.
