FRUITA– Eight pounds of methamphetamine is off the streets after a simple traffic stop in Fruita.
Roberto Lopez and Jennifer Jefferson were stopped on I-70 when their car out of California starts weaving onto the right shoulder.
Law enforcement prepared to let them go, despite their stories not matching up.
Both Jefferson and Lopez gave Mesa County deputies the ‘okay’ to search their car.
That search led to the recovery of eight pounds of methamphetamine inside the headliner.
According to the arrest report, law enforcement believes they were here to import the drugs into the local community.
