GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — The Grand Junction Rockies left nine runners on base Saturday in a 7-3 loss to the Great Falls Voyagers at Suplizio Field.
Rockies starter Mitchell Kilkenny (1-1) picked up his first loss of the season, throwing 4.1 innings, allowing four earned runs and striking out three batters. Four earned runs is a season high for Kilkenny in six starts, raising his ERA to 2.33 on the year.
Grand Junction’s shortstop Christian Koss snapped his streak of six multi-hit games, going 1-for-4 including a strikeouts on the day. Designated hitter Eddy Diaz recorded two hits on the day, but was left on base four times in the losing effort.
The Rockies falls to 14-13 on the season and split the series with Great Falls. Junction will remain at home for their next four game series against the Billings Mustangs. Game 1 is slated for 5:00 p.m. Sunday from Suplizio Field.
