GRAND JUNCTION– The new Joker film hits the big screen this weekend, and some theaters are taking extra precautions.
This is coming after five families in Aurora, Colorado wrote an open letter to Warner Brothers expressing worry over the film and its dark subject matter.
Joker will not be shown at the Aurora theater, wherein 2012, a gunman killed 12 and injured 70 during a showing of The Dark Knight Rises.
Staff at local movie theaters here in Grand Junction say they have reached out to law enforcement.
There will be extra drive-by patrols for Joker’s opening weekend, as well as increased staff.
