Man Shot by Officers Facing Attempted Murder

29-year-old, Spencer Shanley, is charged with criminal attempt of 2nd degree murder and assault in the 1st degree on an officer.

The affidavit in this case is currently sealed by a judges order, and his family wants to know why he was shot so many times.

Officers say he pointed a handgun at them and the Mesa County DA’s office says multiple people claim Shanley was drinking on the night of this accident. Shanley’s family says the toxicology report indicates he was not under the influence.

Shanley appeared in court by video and in a wheel chair, and was given a $100,000 bond.
