Motorhome and a 130 Year Old Barn are Destroyed in a Fire But the Home is Saved

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.

Not even 24 hours after a series of fires destroyed land and property located in the area of 25 and 26 Road between G and I Road on Thursday, May 28, another fire destroyed property at the intersection of 26 Road and G intersection at 2:15 p.m. Friday, May 29.

The Grand Junction Fire Department says a motorhome was on fire near a barn. Upon arrival GJFD crews found both the barn and motorhome on fire. Crews worked to extinguish the blaze and protect a nearby home. Initially there were concerns of a person unaccounted for that was later contacted and determined to be safe. No one was injured in the fire. Crews were able to successfully protect the nearby home from sustaining any damage, however the motor home and barn were a complete loss.

GJFD responded with Truck 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Brush 4, Engine 5, Ambulance 3, a Battalion Chief, and an Administrative Deputy Chief. Grand Junction Police Department and Colorado State Patrol provided assistance closing the intersection of 26 Road and G Road and assisted with scene safety. The origin and cause of the fire are under investigation
