Season Best Start Leads Rocks over Voyagers

Rockies Add Three Homers in Balanced Effort

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Grand Junction Rockies won their second straight game against the Great Falls Voyagers Thursday from Suplizio Field, anchored by a strong six innings from starter Anderson Amarista.

Amarista allowed just one run on three hits during his fifth and longest start of 2019, striking out six and keeping Voyagers batters at bay all day long. Anderson’s ERA stands at 5.70 following the victory.

Grand Junction relied on home runs in the Thursday heat to bring runs across the plate. In the bottom of the 3rd inning, Jack Yalowitz homered to right field, bringing home Eddy Diaz and Turner Brown. The three-run bomb was Yalowitz’s first homer of the season. Two batters later, Christian Koss also hit his first home run of the year, sneaking a fly ball inside the right-field foul pole.

Julio Carerras extended Junction’s lead in the 5th inning with his 15th RBI of the season, singling through the infield and bringing home Yalowitz. Yolki Pena wrapped up the Rockies runs with another home run in the 8th inning to push the score to 8-1.

The Rockies advance to 14-11 on the season, while the Voyagers drop to 9-14. Grand Junction continues their series with Great Falls Friday with a first pitch at 6:40 p.m. There will be fireworks following the conclusion of the game.
