September 17th Drought Monitor Update

Another Thursday another drought monitor update. The most improvement was seen in front range as some areas of extreme and severe drought have receded. There was similar improvement on the eastern side of the state also. The only bit of bad news with this new monitor is that there has been no change in the drought level for the Western Slope. Although we have not seen any changes to the drought level some parts of the Western Slope is doing alright in regards to monthly rainfall totals. Mesa county has received more than an inch of rain since September started, and has improved the total deficit by a half inch. Rifle and Montrose are about even with their monthly rainfall totals also. We will have rising rain chances up until Tuesday, and we may see an overnight shower for the weekend.
