Suspect identified in Tuesday morning shooting

GRAND JUNCTION– A man is in the hospital, and a suspect is in custody after a shooting early Tuesday morning in Mesa County.

At about 4:20 am, officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to reports of a shooting near 29 Road and North Avenue.

A man was found in the street with injuries to his face, which were later confirmed to be gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported to the hospital to be treated.

Later in the morning, Grand Junction Police and Mesa County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a suspect near D 7/8 Road in Clifton.

The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Malcolm Martin was arrested and taken to the Mesa County Jail.

Malcolm is facing charges including Attempted 2nd-Degree Murder, 1st-Degree Assault with a deadly weapon, Vehicular Eluding, Reckless Endangerment, Child Abuse, and Reckless Driving.
