GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.
Flowers and balloons were set out in front of a small store Sunday, February 9th in remembrance of the alleged murder victim who has been identified as 24 year-old female, Jessica Strothman of Grand Junction.
Strothman was found dead at The Emporium on North Avenue, midday on Thursday.
The Mesa County Coroner’s Office has determined the cause of death to be a stab wound to the chest and the manner of death is homicide.
The GJPD says the crime happened a little after noon on Thursday February 6th.
Law enforcement received a tip on Friday the alleged killer had confessed to the crime and located and detained the suspect at the 2700 block of G Road.
Grand Junction Police believe the suspect is the man captured on security video responsible for the murder.
21 year old Brachon Hyer of Grand Junction is charged with murder in the first degree, aggravated robbery, and theft.
Hyer is now in the custody of the Mesa County Detention Facility, and the Grand Junction Police Department says they are not seeking any additional suspects related to this investigation.
