GRAND JUNCTION– A vandal hit the Two Rivers Mosque last Tuesday, covering its new sign with spray paint. One week later, the community is lending a helping hand.
The Two Rivers mosque vandalism was caught on camera, but unfortunately, law enforcement has not been able to identifiy the suspect.
Since the incident, members of the mosque and the community have removed most of the spray paint covering the sign, but the community has helped out in another significant way.
A GoFundMe was started to help raise money for a new sign and better security equipment.
As of Wednesday, 5,270 dollars was raised, which almost doubled the goal amount.
A meeting was held Wednesday evening at the First Presbyterian Church in order to let local law enforcement talk to local church leaders about staying safe.
