April 9, 2021 Forecast First

Freeze Warning for portions of the Western Slope early Saturday!

In the wake of the front that passed through the region, colder temperatures are anticipated Saturday morning until 9 am for Montrose, Delta, Orchard City, Paonia and Hotchkiss. The warning is for these areas because sub-freezing temperatures could develop overnight Friday with a calm wind and a clear sky. Sensitive plants and uninsulated irrigation/water lines could be damaged. Thankfully the cooler temperatures will not stick. The afternoon highs Saturday will be in the upper 60s/low 70s for many locations under a mostly clear, dry and breezy pattern. The wind (25-30 mph) will be courtesy of another dry front moving through the region late Saturday. Sunday conditions are similar with upper 60s/low 70s and a post frontal breeze (5-15 mph). Unfortunately this weekend front will not be bringing any rain chances and the region maintains it’s exceptional drought.

Next week there is a more unsettled pattern developing that should impact the region from Tuesday through Friday with cooler temperatures, windy conditions and increasing rain chances. April showers ya’ll, we could experience our first thunderstorms of the season!
