August 11th Forecast

Wildfire smoke will continue to rest in the valleys. The smoke will keep our morning lows only a few degrees below average. High temperatures are expected to remain hot. We’ll be in the upper 90s for the lower valleys with most of the higher elevations expected to reach the lower 90s. Dry westerly flow will keep smoky skies and hot temperatures around for the rest of the work week. Once we get into the weekend we will see winds shift to more southerly flow which will open up a path for moisture to leak into the Western Slope. This will give us chances for afternoon and evening thunderstorms over the weekend with the best chances for rain falling on Sunday and Monday. These storms will heavily favor the higher elevations and rain chances for the valleys will be low but not zero.
