GATEWAY, Colo. (KREX) — Smoke may be visible in Grand Junction as fire officials continue work on the Cow Creek prescribed burn.
The United States Forest Service is conducting the prescribed burn 25 miles west of Grand Junction and 9 miles east of Gateway. The Forest Service is conducting prescribed burns at Cow Creek, Calamity Creek and Indian Creek.
Firefighters burned around 00 acres of land as of Monday, but no fires were ignited today.
The operation began Saturday and officials will continue this week if conditions are favorable.
