GATEWAY, Colo. (KREX) — Firefighters continue to monitor the Cow Creek prescribed fire in the Uncompahgre National Forest.
According to GMUG Fire officials, tree stumps, logs and woody material continue to smolder and smoke will be visible in nearby areas for the next several weeks. Participation is expected in the area in the next week.
Officials began the last stage of burns at the end of September and finished igniting fires on Wednesday, Oct. 11.
