PAONIA, Colo. (KREX) — Firefighters are responding to a new wildfire start on the Western Slope.

Witnesses reported the Deep Fire northeast of Paonia, in the Raggeds Wilderness near Deep Creek on the morning of Monday, September 25. Yesterday, A multi-mission aircraft flyover estimated the fire at .1 acre with low spread potential.

GMUG Fire will continue to monitor the fire for any changing conditions.
