MONTROSE COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) — GMUG Firefighters continue to make progress in containing the Little Mesa Fire in the Dominguez-Escalante Conservation Area.

This morning, officials reported the fire to be 3,483 acres and 30% contained.

Firefighters continue to use hand ignition to clean up unburned pockets of vegetation to secure the fire perimeter.

Wet weather is expected over the area towards the end of the week with the possibility of thunderstorms and rain showers over the weekend.

Western Slope Now will continue to follow the Little Mesa Fire.
