MONTROSE, Colo. (KREX) — Montrose city officials are beginning stage 1 fire restrictions in the unincorporated area of the West End of Montrose next week.

The restrictions will take place beginning Monday, July 24.

This year’s significant snow pack resulted in tall cheatgrass that is extremely flammable and spreads rapidly when ignited. I want to thank the public for their help in preventing wildfire danger during these fire restrictions. Your cooperation is essential in keeping our community safe. I know that these restrictions can be inconvenient, but they are necessary to protect homes and property. Thank you for your understanding and for doing your part to prevent wildfires.
