GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) – The National Weather Service in Grand Junction just issued a Flash Flood Warning for the Grizzly Creek Burn Scar. Between mile markers 116-133 both directions are affected (Glenwood Springs-Dotsero). This upgrade from the F.F. Watch will prompt CDOT to implement a safety closure of I-70 until 10 pm Wednesday, June 29, 2022. Storms in the area could produce excessive rainfall over the previously burned vegetation and debris could flow down onto the Interstate.
Another F.F. Watch will go into effect Thursday, June 30, 2022, from 8 am until 8 pm. This watch is specific to the Grizzly Creek Burn Scar location on I-70 through Glenwood Canyon and could have future travel implications.
