Friday July 2, 2021 Forecast First

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect until 7 pm for the Grizzly Creek burn scar Friday July 2, 2021.

Mountain zones in Pitkin and Gunnison County should benefit from storms moving though the region this afternoon. Eagle county’s Sylvan Fire got 1/4 inch hail today. Storms will continue to form in the High Country and drift over the lower elevations throughout the holiday weekend, this pattern gets enhanced for Sunday and Monday so look for darker clouds and gusty winds speeds. Essentially the valleys will be on the sidelines for any storms through the middle of next week as mountain born storms continue during the afternoons. Drier air will slowly inject into the region, but not quick enough to eliminate the daily storms. This will not be the case late next week as extremely dry conditions take hold and hotter temperatures rule. For the holiday weekend expect hotter afternoon temperatures.
