The hottest day of the forecast and several temperature records are now in the books.
Since this video was recorded earlier in the day, Grand Junction hit 107F at 4:54 pm on Friday July 9, 2021. This establishes a new all-time record high temperature for Grand Junction. Records have been kept since 1893 and this particular record bests 106F from 2005! Montrose, at 100F, is also in line to establish a record high temperature.
These hot temperatures will continue to stick around for the remainder of this weekend (and into early next week). New temperature record ties/topples are expected for several locations. Additionally, GJ should bag 5 or 6 consecutive days at or above 100 degrees. Storm activity will be limited due to the drier air working into the region and the wind in the Four Corners region will initiate a Red Flag Warning for Saturday.
