July 20th Early Morning Forecast

Cloudy skies overnight will keep our morning lows warmer than our averages. Scattered thunderstorms will clear up for the overnight hours, and we will stay dry for the morning hours. Once we start to move into the afternoon hours we will see scattered thunderstorms return to the region. The lower valleys are looking at a 40% chance while the higher elevations will see an 80% chance. These storms will bring in shorter bursts of heavier rain showers rather than a stead flow of lighter to moderate rainfall. If one of the heavier showers forms over burn scars we will see some flooding concerns. Afternoon highs will be near our averages with 90s expected for the valleys and 80s in the high country. Chances for scattered thunderstorms will be increasing as we move through the week as the North American Monsoon is in full swing. These storms will not end the drought, but whatever rain showers we get will most certainly help.
