July 31st Early Morning Forecast

Scattered thunderstorms will carry into the overnight hours, but will dry up early tomorrow morning. Heavy thunderstorms will kick back up by the late morning hours and will continue through the evening. The heaviest rain showers will start at 6pm. Temperatures will continue to cool down thanks to the rain, and we will see flash flood watches over the mountains. These flood watches will cause I-70 to be closed near the Grizzly Creek burn scar and mud slides will be possible near steep slopes and narrow valleys. Chances for storms will continue to be at the lowest during the morning, but strong afternoon and evening storms will carry into next week. Rain totals from yesterday into next Tuesday could bring up to two full inches of rain to the high country. A much drier weather pattern is expected to move in by the middle of next week.
