Drought monitor updates are back due to popular demand. Over the past two weeks the Western Slope entirely under an extreme drought with large portions under the highest drought level, exceptional. With rain out of the picture for our short term forecast, we will not see any improvement in next week’s drought monitor. Some models are showing that we could get some rain next weekend, but with the wandering jet the long term forecast is subject to change. The Western Slope has been extremely dry this October with both Grand Junction and Montrose only receiving trace amounts (less than 0.01″) over the past three weeks.
