Hotter than average afternoon temperatures and very dry conditions are expected to rule the region into the start of next week.
Our current weather maker responsible for these triple digit readings (for a few spots) will be a strengthening ridge of high pressure over the Four Corners. This is going to put hot to very hot temperatures on the board with near record attempts throughout the weekend. The lower valleys/western location can easily achieve low 100° readings. Grand Junction already has two for the year. Even though there is a dry forecast for this period, mountain storms might be able to fire up this weekend and into the early part of next week.
