Strong northwest wind blows wildfire smoke across Mesa County

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — KREX 5 and Fox 4’s newest member of the Storm Team, Meteorologist Chris Knoll, explains Wednesday’s wind and how it impacts the current air quality conditions, caused by smoke from the Pine Gulch Fire.

The Grand Valley woke up to a think layer of hard-to-breathe smoke Wednesday morning, but according to wind projections, that smoke is slowly making its way out of Mesa County into Garfield County, and further east. Northwest winds are causing the smoke to shift, but pockets are expected to linger.
