Same storm pattern will exist Sunday, but with fewer valley storms and a more mountain focused outcome. That translates to more storms along the Divide and with brief heavy rains, gusty winds and lightning hazards in those higher elevations. Valley temperatures, under a partly cloudy afternoon/light wind day, will be hot today.
Temperatures are expected to jump to the hot category immediately after the Fourth of July. A few populated spots/cities along the the highway 50 corridor could get a little too close to 100°. The record high temperature in Grand Junction on Monday is 104°. Stronger wind speeds are to be expected Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, Red Flag Warnings could be achieved as the region remains very dry. Next storm chance should exist late next week into next weekend.
