Warmer, drier and clearer conditions!

Our new weather pattern has a high pressure system to the west that will choke off the subtropical monsoon tap. That means the rest of this week will have clearer, warmer and drier conditions compared to the last few weeks. This high pressure system will also be transporting smoke and haze across the region so be mindful of that hazard if you are outside recreating. On Friday a dry cold front will be swinging through the region and as such you can expect breezy/windy conditions. Mesa County and points to the north are now under a a Red Flag Warning from noon until 8 pm Friday August 6, 2021. Southwest wind speeds should increase from 15-30 mph with stronger gusts. Temperatures will be slightly hotter than the averages both Thursday and Friday. Post frontal weather on Saturday indicates a brief drop in temperatures by a few degrees before warming again Sunday and Monday.

This storm free weather pattern will continue throughout this upcoming weekend and into the start of next week. There are some weak indications that the North American Monsoon pattern could return late next week. As of today, that pattern appears to only favor the San Juans and NOT a widespread “plume” that was previously experienced.
