The Western Slope continues to deal with extremely dry conditions with very little rain opportunities.
Red Flag Warnings will be in place again today from 11 am until 8 pm. High temperatures will still be running around 5 degrees hotter than they should and low temperatures will be running just about/slightly over the average. A mostly clear sky is also in the forecast late at night and that is conducive to almost perfect viewing for the Perseid Meteor Shower. Smoke and haze will linger throughout the region. The best storm chance will be in San Juans each afternoon, but all of the mesas, mountains and plateaus will become the genesis for late day storms through the middle of next week… for now Friday through Saturday has a slight uptick in showers.
Rain deficit for Grand Junction is -2.30″. Rain deficit for Montrose is -3.75″/ Rain totals for the year should be in the 5 & 6″ category.
